Scholarship Opportunities

We are proud to offer scholarship opportunities to support the educational goals of students in our service area.

How to Apply

Tripp County Water User District scholarships are now administered through the South Dakota Community Foundation’s online scholarship portal. This is the first year that the online application process is being used, making it easier for students to apply and for applications to be reviewed.

Application Process

  1. Visit the South Dakota Community Foundation scholarship portal at
    www.sdcommunityfoundation.org/scholarships

  2. Search for one or both of the following scholarships:

    • Tripp County Water User District – Lawrence Wagner Scholarship

    • Tripp County Water User District – Martin & Mary Jorgensen Scholarship

  3. Create or log in to a GOapply student account and complete the application online.

  4. Submit all required materials electronically no later than
    February 25, 2026.

Students may also visit their high school guidance counselor’s office to request a GOapply Student Application Guide.

Scholarship Awards

Each successful applicant will receive a $1,000 scholarship, awarded during the first year of college, at the beginning of the second semester, and paid directly to the institution.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a child of a TCWUD member or a resident of a participating community
  • Must attend a South Dakota post-secondary institution
  • Minimum GPA: 2.8
  • Submit a typed essay (250–500 words) on What rural water has done for you or your community”
  • Include a current photo (used for publicity)
  • Attach a completed application from your school’s guidance office
  • Note: TCWUD reserves the right to publish submitted essays
